Building Africa, Poverty Eradication programmes in Africa

Reason for Establishment

One of the major reasons for the establishment of the Building Africa Mathare branch was to tackle some of the day to day social problems in the Mathare slum. This includes; drug trafficking ,prostitution(among the youths due to lack of employment), child labour, Early marriage among the girl children, illiteracy among other social problems/issues affecting the area.

 

Education is one of the Pillar programmes under which the Mathare branch has established the Millennium Academy school as an institution to help fight illiteracy in the area and also In recognition of the plight of the children leaving in the slums of Nairobi and problems they face,we came together and formed this group to be able to:-

 

• To consolidate the support of the people leaving in this areas, organise them and create awareness to the importance of their Education for their children.

• Solicit financial and material support  from organizations or well wishers and be able to coordinate programmes within the area.

• Highlight the plight of the needy children living in the slums in a bid to Consolidate the support of organizations,companies and well wishers willing to step in and partner with us to make this a reality for the many grappling with this situation.
